Countries that impose a minimum age

Some countries legislate a minimum age for services of this kind. If you are in one of them, an account requires you to be at least the age shown, and the verified-age check described in §1 of the Terms applies to word lodgement and the four Groups engagement actions. Elsewhere no minimum is imposed by us and the instrument is open to any age.

This page is the operative list referred to in the Terms. We keep it current as laws change; adding or removing a country here is not a change to the Terms themselves.

In the countries listed above, an account held by someone under the minimum age is placed in Younger Astronomer mode, which closes every member-to-member surface on it until they reach the age shown — the four engagement actions, the Matrix, social links, and any form of contact with another member. Those members use the instrument and the corpus, never each other. Everywhere else a younger member uses the service like any other member.
